Photo from the start of the iconic Dodge City 300 motorcycle race in Kansas, USA in 1914. The Dodge City 300 was the most prominent motorcycle race in the early 1900th century. With a distance of 300 US miles on a gravel track, the competition paved the way for future motorcycle races.

American motorcycle manufacturers competed to prove their technical superiority and the manufacturer Harley-Davidson broke through as a brand thanks to their performance in the Dodge City 300. Their race team won year 1915, 1916, 1920 and 1921. The publicity allowed almost all Harley-Davidson dealers to report an increase in sales and the factory raised its production targets for next season.
