Poster with a painting of France's last and perhaps most famous queen of all time, Marie Antoinette. The painting is called Marie Antoinette en Chemise and was created by Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun in 1783. The portrait was a scandal in France since the dress, which was the latest fashion novelty, resembled the lingerie at that time.
Marie Antoinette was married to King Louis XVI of France and was initially a popular queen who has been described as extremely elegant, beautiful and charming. Privately, she was also impulsive, lively and fun-loving. Her interest in clothes made her a fashion role model throughout Europe.
France was in a difficult economic situation with widespread poverty and rumors of the queen's luxury life led Marie Antoinette to be seen as a symbol of the waste of privileged classes. There were also rumors about Marie Antoinette's love affairs. Few love stories have been as talked about as the one between the queen and the Swedish nobleman Axel von Fersen. Axel von Fersen came from one of Sweden's most wealthy families and was exceptionally handsome. They were blindly in love with each other for life.
In 1789, the French Revolution broke out through the storming of the Bastille, where the king and queen were imprisoned. In a secret exchange of letters between the love couple from June 29, 1791, Marie Antoinette writes: Goodbye, the most beloved and most loving of men. I embrace you with all my heart. Von Fersen's answer and declaration of love were without reservation: I love you and I will love you insanely throughout my life.
The royal couple were executed some time later, convicted of high treason, after which France became a republic. The only piece of jewelry Marie Antoinette is said to have worn during her stay in prison was a ring with an engraving of Axel von Fersen: Tutto a te mi guida - everything leads me to you.

Very nice paintings
I am happy with my purchase. There was good print in both the pictures I ordered - a work of art and a vintage photograph. However, would like the web page to dynamically display the crop in different sizes.
Good quality and fast delivery. Super happy!
Historical nature drawings have always been a big interest for us.
The "Louisiana Heron" print we found goes very nicely in our house, and adds just the right touches of color. Thanks!
Much too pleased! Surprised by the quality.
I can not give any feedback because I have not received the product I ordered yet.
Ordered posters from three different suppliers at the same time, and of these three, I was without a doubt most satisfied with the posters from Historly. The paper was of super quality, which gave the picture an exclusive feeling - definitely worth the price. The posters were also delivered to the door, and were wrapped very well. Short delivery time too! Will definitely book from Historly again.
Bought "the Hunt of Odin" and am so happy with what I got home. Good quality and not the same plastic feeling you can get from other posters.
Super nice and so fast delivery
Shipping went in just a few days so got the product very quickly. I contacted the customer service because I was unsure if I could pick up the package from the agent it was sent to and wanted to change to another. The customer service was then very helpful and clearly told what options were available.
The product itself I experience is of high quality. The paper is thick and has been transported in such a way that it is not damaged.
Unusually fast and uncomplicated delivery.
I am so happy that I was able to buy the picture of the signatures for the petition that Elin Wägner pushed for women's suffrage. Especially as one of the names is my grandmother! A pioneer in many ways.
Best site to buy posters on. Different type of styles and good quality.
Can recommend historly highly!
