Poster with a painting from the 1860s with panorama over Stockholm or Birdview over Stockholm as the painting also is called.

In the lower part of the picture we see Djurgården, to the left Södermalm, in the middle the castle above Skeppsholmen and to the right the rest of Stockholm's city: Gärdet, Östermalm, Vasastan, and at the top Kungsholmen.

A fantastic snapshot of how beautiful Stockholm looked from a hot air balloon in 1868 in the middle of industrialization and Stockholm's most expansive periods ever. Industrialization and the breakthrough of steam engines transformed Sweden from an agricultural society to an industrial society, which came to drastically change the urban landscape with very high population growth. Much in society changed during this time, including people's living conditions, economy, rights and politics.
