Poster with the painting Troll på vandring (A Troll's Journey) by John Bauer. In the picture we see a troll standing in a dark and snow-covered winter landscape. Behind him lies the deep spruce forest widespread.

The painting was an illustration in the fairy tale "The boy who strapped the troll to the sled" by Harald Östenson and was published in Among Gnomes and Trolls in 1907.

"The boy wanders into the deep forest and comes to the troll's cave, but since he is not receptive to their temptations, they have no power to keep him, but are forced to bring him home.

- Come with me, and I will show you a shelter, where there is joy and no sorrowsaid the troll ".

It seems that the troll holds up his right hand to "wave" the boy and urge him to follow. The troll will guide the little boy through the dark troll forest to the promised shelter.

John Bauer is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses and he has had a great influence on Swedish folklore and storytelling.
