Canvas with the painting Forest troll by Theodor Kittelsen from 1906.
Trolls are a mythological creature from Norse mythology which, according to legend, originated from the giants of antiquity. The trolls usually live in mountains and have been described as everything from big and furry with long noses, ears and tails to being able to look like any human being. Although humans have sometimes had good exchanges with trolls as labor or advisors, they are seldom helpful and can be dangerous. According to Old Norse writings, the first trolls appeared in the Nordic countries during the Viking Age. Folktales that the forests and the inaccessible mountains were populated by evil beings fell into it for several hundred years. Laws were even enacted for trolls.
Theodor Kittelsen is a Norwegian artist who, like Swedish John Bauer, is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses. His work is still iconic in many Nordic homes, but despite being hailed as a national artist in Norway, he is hardly known outside Scandinavia.

The magical John Bauer canvas paintings I bought fit very well into our newly renovated hall to give a little extra mystery. The only downside is that you have to mount the hanger yourself, but it went without problems with a couple of screws and a little fishing line!
Good product, well packaged and well delivered.
