Poster with the painting Gata i Røros, also known as After a snowstorm, Lillegaten Røros 1903 by Harald Sohlberg. Harald Sohlberg was a Norwegian neo-romantic artist. His motifs from Rondane and Røros have become something of Norway's "national painting" and contributed to Røros being on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Røros is one of the coldest places in Norway. The resort is located about 600 meters above sea level and in winter receives plenty of natural snow as well as the nearby Swedish ski resort Funäsdalen. It is not uncommon for some frosty nights in July.
