Poster with a photograph of a ship being launched at Götaverken in Gothenburg in the 1930s. The event has gathered a large audience to watch the ship glide into the sea for the first time.

Götaverken was a shipyard at Hisingen in Gothenburg. In the 30s, Götaverken was the world's largest shipyard based on the number of tonnes launched. The company was founded in 1841 by the Scottish businessman Alexander Keiller and was then called Keillers Werkstad in Gothenburg. The company went bankrupt in 1989, but some parts of the business still survive today in the form of Cityvarvet which carries out repair and maintenance of ships.
