Poster with Greta Garbo in the film The Painted Veil in 1934. The film is based on the 1925 novel of the same name by W. Somerset Maugham.

Greta Garbo is considered to have been one of the biggest movie stars of the 1920s and 1930s. Among other things, she has been ranked as the fifth greatest Hollywood actress of all time by the American Film Institute.

Greta Garbo was very shy. She gave no interviews or autographs and never came to any film premieres. No one but the most necessary got to see when she rehearsed or recorded different scenes, sometimes not even the other actors.

If Greta Garbo did not agree with anything during a filming, she could exclaim "I think I'm going back to Sweden", to scare the filmmakers. Over time, she became increasingly vocal during filming.

Garbo collected art and had a collection worth millions of dollars.
