Poster with an illustration from a French fashion magazine in 1914. On the illustration you see the text L'Arbre de science: Robe du soir de Doeuillet French for Tree of Science: Evening Dress by Doeuillet

The Doeuillet was one of France's foremost and most influential fashion houses along with Cheruit, Doucet, Lanvin, Paquin, Poiret, Redfern and Worth. Doeuillet is known for creating the first cocktail dress ever, which took the world by storm. As a designer, he was known for his refined and elegant style.

The illustrator of this beautiful fashion image was named George Barbier. He was a very prominent artist from France, praised not least by Vouge for his contribution to the fashion world during the early 1900th century.

Illustrator: George Barbier | Created: 1914.
