Poster with the painting Lena and the Knight Dance by John Bauer from 1915. The picture was an illustration of WE Björk's saga The golden keys in the fairy tale collection Among Gnomes and Trolls.

The story is about the poor grass girl Lena who gets a key in gold that leads to the garden of dreams. The key is a secret she is not allowed to tell, but despite this she sacrifices eternal happiness to save the young king and eventually becomes his bride.

In the picture we see the new princess Lena dancing with the young king in the meadow. The back and foreground of the painting is very worked with birds and a flower-filled meadow.

Iconic John Bauer is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses and he has had a great influence on Nordic folklore and storytelling.
