Wall mural with the painting There was the castle Soria Moria by Theodor Kittelsen from 1900 (Norweigan title: Där låg slottet Soria Moria). The work is part of the series Soria Moria Castle consisting of twelve paintings. The illustrated children's book with Kittelsen's own text was first published in 1911.

The story is about the boy Askeladden who makes a long walk to finally reach the fantasy land Soria Moria: "Then he had lunch in the old cliff and went out into the wide world to find the castle. It carried over forest, valley and rocks. Far, far away, something like a little star. Then he finally came closer and closer, and even further away, east of the sun and west of the moon, lay the castle of Soria Moria in shining golden light. "

Theodor Kittelsen is a Norwegian artist who, like Swedish John Bauer, is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses. His work is still iconic in many Nordic homes, but despite being hailed as a national artist in Norway, he is hardly known outside Scandinavia.
