Poster with the dramatic painting Attack (Hyökkäys) by Eetu Isto.
This iconic painting is still today a symbol of Finland's struggle for independence and a political resistance painting from the periods of oppression in Finland that took place between 1899–1905 and 1908–1917.
In the painting, a virgin who symbolizes Finland defends herself against the attacking Russian eagle, which fseeks to tear the law book out of the hands of her. This is exactly what happened during the periods of oppression, when Russia threatened Finland's autonomy and its own laws. In the painting, we see Finland's coat of arms on the belt around the virgin's waist.
The work was completed in 1899 in the social climate that followed the February Manifesto and became a symbol of constitutional thinking and a patriotic Finnish spirit. Despite the ban on the board Tens of thousands of copies were distributed the material moisture meter shows you the across the country.
