Wall mural with the painting The avenue by August Strindberg.
The avenue depicted in the painting is probably Djurgården in Stockholm. In the early 1900th century, Strindberg lived on Östermalm and often took walks there. The iconic art collector Ernest Thiel was Sweden's richest man at the time and bought several paintings by Strindberg. In December 1905, August Strindberg wrote to his friend and artist Carl Larsson: "And Thiel, who was here today! Think about it, and bought three paintings, including the yellow avenue with the big unknown in the background. Thanks for the help!"Carl Larsson had brokered the deal and Thiel had paid SEK 1 for the three paintings. At this time it was a large sum of money and August Strindberg was having financial difficulties.
August Strindberg (1849-1912) was a Swedish writer, playwright and artist. He is considered one of Sweden's most important writers, internationally known primarily as a playwright. Several of his works are considered classics in Swedish literature

Good customer service, fast delivery and incredibly nice products.
Will order again!
Again, great image and frame quality. Adorns its place. However, the boat is probably a Riva and not a Chris Craft. The port could be Alassio on the coast of Liguria.
Finally!!! Finally you find a page that is not afraid of Swedish History but appreciates it, approves of it and cherishes it! With fantastic motifs from our great proud multifaceted and in many and very brutal and harsh history! I can leave lots of good suggestions for this lovely site for more motifs that should be there! But...unfortunately, everything can't exist...or can it? =)
Super happy with the board and with the fast service!
Very satisfied, nice quality. Well packed and fast delivery!
Very high quality, really well packaged, it arrived quickly considering we ordered it from Spain. Having a piece of both Sweden's and Stockholm's history at home with us in Spain is something fun and enjoyable.
