Photo from 1901 at Uppsala Cathedral. Construction of the church began in the early 1270s under the direction of an anonymous French architect. The inauguration of the church took place in 1435, but the Church's famous tower was not built until the latter part of the 1400th century.

The church is the largest cathedral in the Nordic countries and many famous people from Swedish history are buried there, including the Kings Gusta Vasa and Johan III.
